About

Hello, my name is Nicola, I’m a freelance hairstylist and makeup artist who has loved a multi faceted creative career within the film & tv industry. I also specialise in fashion/beauty and have worked in education for over 20 years.
After the closure of NewsHub and my time with TV3 coming to an end I’ve recently relocated to Mount Maunganui . I’m loving the beach life again. When I’m not doing makeup you can find me at some of the Little Big Markets selling my artwork.

Industry Experience

After a dedicated start to my makeup career in the early 2000’s at MAC, a world of opportunities opened up including leading teams for Sydney and NZ fashion week.
I then had a significant time at The Makeup School as Senior Tutor working along side two of my Film and TV makeup idols Dianne Ensor and Gabrielle Jones. As the years carried on my focus went to live television with Sky TV, studio shoots and location outside broadcasts around the country.
Working closely with writer/director Maza White as a makeup designer on her short film projects. Most recently Daughter of God being celebrated at NZIFF and Show me Shorts.
I’ve assisted TV where I worked alongside Jacinter Driver on the epic crime thriller series The Gulf and with Luci Hare on two seasons of the fabulous Mean Mums.
Day player additional makeup support among many more productions for SPP has also kept me busy at times in the past. Not to mention where it all began , my love for makeup design in TV comedy with the brilliant Jaquie Brown diaries. I still can’t top that!
My most recent contract was with Warner Bro’s Discovery NZ as a member of the hair & makeup team for TV3 News Hub, The Project and Seven Days.
