Mike Jonathan is based in Rotorua, New Zealand.

He’s worked in TV and Film for over 26 years working in mainstream. He’s directed 3 award winning short films, 2 in which he wrote and produced. He now shoots and directs a range of observational documentary style films such as Road to the Globe which won best documentary at FIFO 2013., “Freezing Works” following 12 Kiwi butchers that travel to Iceland to work for 2 months in a meat processing plant. And for TV, he made the show “Crayfishers” working solo on and off Cray-fishing boats for 6 months. He also made “TOA hunter gatherer”, a new holistic way of hunting for food in New Zealand and more currently he’s in production on “Loggers” for Prime TV, a 10 episode series about the Newton whanau running a logging company in the Bay of Plenty. Mike was DOP for “Making Good Men” for Te Amokura Productions, Topshelf’s “Target Zero” documentary. Both documentaries winning best New Zealand Documentary at DocEdge Fests.
