Where: Village Cinema, The Historic Village, 17th Ave, Tauranga
When: 30th November
Time: 1 -3 pm Screening of Hang Time
3 - 5 pm Workshop with Casey Zilbert

"Hang Time, is about three school friends who get to engage in some unscheduled socialising after a cancelled wedding. The trio find themselves on a Marlborough vineyard with all the wine from the big day (as well as the bride's crazy uncle) - and soon decide it would be a shame to let all that vino go to waste".

Casey was named by WIFTNZ as a "lady to watch" She has written and directed a number of short films with the latest being Hang Time. Her IMDB page is here.

Caseys discussion points to think about:

"How can local independent creators sustainably develop, finance, and distribute content for an ever-changing global digital landscape? How can you generate and protect original intellectual property that could be adapted to suit current storytelling platforms and platforms of the future? How can you use emerging story-telling platforms to build a fairer, less exploitative industry?

These are questions I have been asking myself and the local/international screen industry for going on a decade - I've learned a lot, unlearned a lot, and I'm thrilled to share that knowledge with a community of passionate, forward-thinking filmmakers. Part crash course in global content economics, part overview of tech-sector developments that are re-shaping how we consume and create content, this workshop is about overhauling how you think about the content creation food chain and your place in it so you can think and act more strategically in the market. I will be using HANG TIME as a case study for "finding creative solutions to practical problems" style content creation and look forward to sharing some key "do's and don'ts" so you can learn from our successes and our mistakes."
