This is New Zealand’s youngest geothermal valley created from the Mount Tarawera eruption in 1886. The management team are film-friendly and encouraging of productions coming to take advantage of the spectacular volcanic craters, enormous hot water springs, beautiful geothermal features, rare and unusual plant life, brilliantly coloured micro biology and the wide array of birds.

Good access for a film crew with roads etc and the ability to own and control pedestrian access through specific areas.

Waimangu is owned by a partnership between Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi, Tūhourangi Tribal Authority and Te Puia l New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute.
