A historic Māori Village

This authentic living Māori village is home to the Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao people who use the natural geothermal resources to cook, bathe and heat their homes. Featured in the village are historical landmarks and buildings, including an active marae (meeting grounds and focal point of Maori communities), the WWII Memorial Archway, historic churches, and tapu (sacred) burial grounds.
Explore the geothermal wonders of Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley including the world-famous Pōhutu Geyser, boiling mud-pools, steam vents and bubbling pools.

location & distance

One of the great things about filming in the Bay of Plenty is the close proximity to New Zealand cities and rural townships.  Even when you are enjoying our spectacular rural filming locations you still have access to major infrastructure and amenities nearby.
