Filming HereTraining and Upskilling

Film Bay of Plenty supports workforce development and upskilling of our Bay of Plenty crew.

Film Bay of Plenty is committed to increasing the crew depth and skill of the wider Bay of Plenty region in order to service different sized productions. There is already an experienced crew base across the region, who are either working locally or commuting to the main centres to work on large scale productions. With our main hubs of Tauranga, Rotorua and Whakatane and Taupo only an short drive way, producers can easily supplement their existing crew base with Bay of Plenty crew.

We work closely with Waiariki Studio who have successfully partnered with the Ministry of Social Development MBIE and Greenstone TV to run Tohea, an Indigenous Screen Industry Employment, Training and Apprenticeship Programme where 20 local youth were given the opportunity to get a step up into the industry.

We also offer mentoring opportunities for individuals looking to upskill in the industry on short term projects.
