The International Youth Silent Film Festival (IYSFF) NZ Nationals 2020

2020: The search is on to discover the best young Kiwi filmmakers with the return of the International Youth Silent Film Festival.

The IYSFF competition challenges filmmakers from across America, Australia, NZ and United Emirates to create a 3 minute silent film set to 10 different musical scores created especially for the festival. The top films from NZ go through to the IYSFF International Award finals, held in Portland Oregon, in June 2021.

IYSFF was founded in 2009 by Jon (JP) Palanuk, with the vision of teaching young people the art of filmmaking, introducing a new generation to the mighty Wurlitzer and the world of Silent Cinema.

Aotearoa has a strong reputation in the competition, with films from Lynfield College and Taieri College taking home prizes in the international finals earlier this year.

A great night of cinema suitable for all ages. Experience the 2020 finalists on Baycourts big screen with live accompaniment from the Wurlitzer organ.

The NZ National Red carpet Awards Final will be held at Baycourt Community Arts Centre, Tauranga on Friday the 16th October 2020 where the selected top 10-15 Nationwide short films will all be screened. Tickets on sale soon.

Submissions Close: Tuesday 1st September 2020
